APSU AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT LEADERS SPEAK TO BLACK COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS REGARDING COMPLAINTS OF RACIAL INJUSTICE AT AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY CLARKSVILLE, TN.
Members of the African American Student Association (AASA) and the Timbuktu African American Minor Association will meet with Clarksville black community leaders and pastors and invited state and local elected officials to clarify complaints of racial injustice at Austin Peay State University.
Members of AASA and Timbuktu will also express concerns with the disproportionate number of African American faculty, staff, and administration affected by the recent budget cuts and reorganization plans as well as address incidents of harassment by campus security while peacefully assembling.
The NAACP is asking any student, staff or faculty member of Austin Peay State University who believes that he or she has suffered from racial discrimination at APSU to fill out an official report of discrimination. The information will be gathered in confidence. Forms are available at the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Culture Center on the APSU campus.
This meeting is open to the public and all are urged to attend.
