Tall Thrills in Texas: Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Over Texas
Everything is bigger in the state of Texas, and that goes for the 315-foot tall, record-breaking SUPERMAN TOWER OF POWER -- the largest drop ride in North America. Unlike any other thrilling experience in the state of Texas, SUPERMAN TOWER OF POWER, based on the popular DC Comics Super Hero Superman, combines height with the unbelievable experience of being launched hundreds of feet in the air then plummeted back to earth.
More than a drop ride, SUPERMAN TOWER OF POWER is an adventure that riders wont soon forget, and one that they will want to ride over and over again. With its impressive mass, SUPERMAN TOWER OF POWER will forever change the parks skyline-towering over other signature rides and features including the OIL DERRICK, TITAN, THE TEXAS CHUTE OUT and the TEXAS GIANT.
This ride is so massive and so exciting, it has to be seen to be believed," said Gary Story, president of Six Flags, Inc. Only in a state like Texas would a ride this big be so at home."
SCREAM!: Six Flags Magic Mountains Sweet 16 Roller Coaster
When the floorless mega-ride, SCREAM! opens in 2003 at Six Flags Magic Mountain, the park will shatter its own Guinness Book world record status as the theme park with the most coasters on the planet!
The only ride of its kind in Southern California, SCREAM! combines traditional roller coaster technology with a unique floorless train design. Riders are strapped into flying chairs" racing at intense speeds with feet dangling in the air. With no track above and no coach around their seats, riders are sent screaming through seven 360-degree inversions, and flying through a series of twists and turns that span 4,000 feet of track.
SCREAM! fits perfectly into Magic Mountains reputation of offering the most cutting edge, adrenaline pumping rides," said Story. This will be one of the most hair-raising and scream-inspiring experiences visitors have ever seen."
I Want to Fly
Visitors to Six Flags parks in New Jersey and Chicago will take to the skies on SUPERMAN - ULTIMATE FLIGHT, a high-tech flying coaster that takes passengers on a soaring journey through sharp dives, high banked curves, and mid-air spirals. The coasters remarkable flight pattern covers more than 2,798 feet, with two sleek trains soaring over virtually invisible track at speeds greater than 50 mph.
"Our guests expect the best in thrills and entertainment," said Story. SUPERMAN -- ULTIMATE FLIGHT delivers!"
Big Thrills in the Big Easy
Six Flags will devote more than $20 million to its newest theme park, Six Flags New Orleans, including the addition of two new roller coasters. Both BATMAN: THE RIDE -- a sleek and powerful suspended, looping roller coaster, and THE JESTER -- which features three wicked inversions and more than 1,900 feet of track, will be part of the new park.
Other rides new to the New Orleans theme park include CATWOMANS WHIP, a round inverted flat ride; the JOKERS JUKEBOX, a spinning thrill ride; and a new wind-shear gondola ride called RIDDLERS REVENGE.
