FORMER D.C. STATE COMMITTEE MEMBER SPEAKS OUT ON D.C. DEMS CHAIR RESIGNATION,OPENS RACE FOR NEW CHAIR
Former D.C. Democratic State Committeeman, Arthur H. Jackson Jr releases the following statement on the May 1,2003 resignation of Norm Neverson as Chairman of the D.C. Demcoratic Party.
" For more than thirty years, I've had the honor to work with many Democratic Elected Officials and Leaders, and it is sad to witness The District's Democratic Party, move from a once strong and effective organizaton to a conservative organization, which has refused to address the issues real Democrats Care about such as Affordable Housing and Health Care,Full Funding of our Schools and providing opportunites for small, minority and women owned business.
The former Chairman Norm Neverson did the right thing, as I asked in my Press Statement dated April 29, 2003 . Where I appealed for
Mr. Neverson to apologize and resign.
Today , the D.C. Democratic Party has numerous talent in the wings ready to restore integrity and credibility to the process. Leaders
suchas Ward 8's Mary Parham Wolfe and Phil Pannell and Ward 6's John Capozzi. We believe the party is better off Today, we can not begin to join Democrats Nationwide in working to defeat the surpreme court appointed President
George Bush in next years election.
