Sarokas responsibilities have included sales, general management, product management, product development and all aspects of network development and operations.
He joined GTE Mobilnet in 1983, as the first construction permits were awarded by the FCC, and was responsible for all network technical issues and the development of GTE proprietary products such as cell phones, call boxes, credit card phones and their Follow Me Roaming system. When GTE acquired the fledgling Airfone in 1988, he joined the company as VP Engineering and was responsible for leading the cross-functional team that developed the second generation Airfone system requirements.
Saroka was a co-founder of Sterling Cellular, a company that successfully developed RSA markets from Alaska to Florida.
He re-joined GTE in late 1993, as VP/GM International Operations for the Personal Communications group, responsible for the successful rollout of wireless operations in Argentina (Compania de Telefonos del Interior, SA) and GTE PCSs operations in Korea. In 1995, he joined CellStar, where he managed product distribution, materials management and marketing for the $1 billion company. He was the driving force behind the development of one of the earliest programs that allowed wireless carriers to out-source retail product packaging and distribution. In 1996 he co-founded Global Wireless Solutions, a consulting company that provided product, process and engineering services to wireless carriers and vendors. In 1999, he joined ScoreBoard, Inc., where he was able to both restore endangered customer relationships and build new accounts.
