Ahmadiyya Muslim Community elects Mirza Masroor Ahmad as their Fifth Caliph
Silver Spring, MD, April 23, 2003 -- Over 30,000 individuals from all over the world gathered at Tilford, Surrey, UK, to give their allegiance (bait) to the newly elected fifth caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC), Mirza Masroor Ahmad and to attend the funeral of the fourth caliph, Mirza Tahir Ahmad.
Silver Spring, MD, April 23, 2003 -- Over 30,000 individuals from all over the world gathered at Tilford, Surrey, UK, to give their allegiance (bait) to the newly elected fifth caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC), Mirza Masroor Ahmad and to attend the funeral of the fourth caliph, Mirza Tahir Ahmad. The fifth caliph was elected on April 22, 2003 by the International Electoral College (Majlis Intekhab-e-Khilafat) of the AMC at the London Fazal Mosque.
After taking the allegiance of the over 30,000 attendees present and joined by millions of faithful via satellite, Ahmad led the congregational funeral prayer for Mirza Tahir Ahmad, who was buried in England shortly after. "We are most grateful to Allah for bestowing us with the most able leadership time and time again" said Dr. Ahsanullah Zafar, President, AMC USA "We are also comforted because Allah guides the Caliph election process and the Caliph once he is elected."
