New Curetteblade Single Use Surgical Curette Blade Offers Physicians Disposable Curette Convenience with the Strength and Feel of Reusable Curettes

Curetteblade launches the first and only single use, stainless steel surgical curette blade on the market. The new Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade provides physicians with an improved curette and sets a new standard for surgical procedures that involve curettage.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) May 7, 2003 --Curetteblade, Inc. is pleased to announce the U.S. introduction of the first and only single use, stainless steel, surgical curette blade on the market. Designed by a board certified dermatologist as an alternative to lightweight, one-piece disposable curettes, the patented Curetteblade Single Use Surgical Curette Blade can be used with standard, reusable surgical blade handles. The combination of the Curetteblade Single Use Surgical Curette Blade and a reusable surgical blade handle offers the convenience and safety of a disposable, with the strength and sturdy feel of a reusable curette.

Reusable curettes require cleaning and sterilization after each use, quickly becoming dull. Cleaning, sterilization and re-sharpening of reusable curettes are time-consuming, tedious and costly. Disposable curettes have thin, easily bent steel tips, which are permanently attached to lightweight plastic handles. Their lightweight, one-piece design prevents the physician from choosing their preferred handle, resulting in an instrument that lacks the sturdy feel of a disposable curette.

Like disposables, the Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade does not require cleaning, sterilization or re-sharpening, however, it is designed to overcome the disadvantages of disposable curettes. The Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade is manufactured from thicker stainless steel than disposable curettes, making it more resistant to bending. A thicker edge also makes the Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade less likely to cut, rather than curette, during use. Because it can be used with standard reusable scalpel handles, users can select the type of handle they prefer. The Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade and a reusable surgical blade handle create a heftier feel than disposable curettes, similar to that experienced when using a reusable curette.

The new Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade provides physicians with an improved curette and sets a new standard for surgical procedures that involve curettage," said Orin M. Goldblum, M.D., the developer of the Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade and President of Curetteblade, Inc. Curetteblade brought the first single use surgical curette blade to market and offers what physicians have been seeking in a curette, the convenience of a disposable product, and, due to its ability to use the curette blade with standard reusable blade handles, the strength and sturdiness of a reusable curette."

The Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade is available in three sizes, corresponding to the diameter of the curette, #32 (2-mm), #34 (4-mm) and #36 (6-mm). It is compatible with any surgical blade handle containing a #3 fitment. The blades are packaged sterile in protective blister packs within easily opened pouches. There are 50 curette blades per box. The Curetteblade Single Use Curette Blade is now available for sale from Delasco (www.delasco.com), the worlds largest supplier of dermatologic products.
