This week the Fourth International Conference for Peace Museums goes interactive due to the SARS virus.
As a response to the threaths of SARS and as a answer to the war in Iraq the Fourth International Conference for Peace Museums takes use of the internet for clearing borders and limitations with the help of technology.
This week the Fourth International Conference for Peace Museums takes place in Ostend (Flanders -- Belgium). Museologists, academics, pacifists, ... from all over the world will debate on 'War Remembrance and Peace Education. However, due to the war in Iraq and to SARS, the conference was confronted with hesitation and last minute cancellations. The organisers were convinced that a Peace Conference must not be disrupted by belligerents, and therefore they turned these obstacles into an opportunity. From Monday May 5th onwards the peacemuseums-website will provide a platform for people and institutions who want to promote peace in their community and the world. Video recordings of the conference will be published on the world wide web, along with an interactive peace platform that will carry on much longer than the conference originally envisaged. Peacemuseums.org wants to become a lasting contribution to a peaceful world.
