Instead of spending time this summer going to movies or watching television, students from across the United States will be traveling to Cádiz, Spain, creating documentary films and learning Spanish culture through the eyes of a video camera. iD Tech Camps, a Silicon Valley company in California, is taking a group of students to learn Documentary Filmmaking & Cultural Immersion for two weeks in July. This 2-week program will allow students ages 14-17 to experience Cádiz, Spain firsthand, while living with a Spanish family. Participants will study Spanish in the morning and learn documentary filmmaking each afternoon from an award-winning film instructor. By the end of this study abroad program, students will have a better understanding of the Spanish language and culture, while creating a documentary digital video of their experience. The group will depart from New York on July 11th and return July 25th.
iD Tech Camps a hands-on technology summer program, has partnered with the Instituto San Fernando de la Lengua Española and the University of Cádiz in Southern Spain. While living with a Spanish family, participants will eat Spanish food, tour ancient cities, and experience local culture. Weekday mornings will be busy from 10 AM -- 1:30 PM attending Spanish language class, based on a Spanish assessment test. The instructors teaching the Spanish courses are accredited from the University of Cádiz, and speak Spanish and English. Each weekday afternoon, students will eat with their Spanish family, then spend 3 hours learning Digital Video. Weekends will be spent with a group coordinator touring the Southern province of Andalusia, including the famed city of Granada in Spains Sierra Nevada mountain range.
These young students arent the only group to partake in the program. Major technology leaders such as Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE) and Canon (NYSE: CAJ) are contributing to the program to make it a one-of-a-kind experience.
During the digital video lessons, students will use Canon digital cameras and learn to capture footage like the pros. They will learn storyboard conceptualizing, camera angles, lighting, stages of production, and the different roles needed for taking a concept from beginning to end. With Adobe Premier and After Effects, students will add high-end special effects, transitions, sound effects, music, titles, advanced compositing, and cinematography to their documentary movie. These effects will add flare to their films as they create lightening bolts, make people fly, have instructors run backwards, freeze other students in mid- air, and take their filming to new heights.
It is a dream come true to create an exchange program which combines digital video and documentary filmmaking, travel, Spanish language, with the experience of living with a Spanish family," said Kevin Painchaud, Director of the Spanish program for iD Tech Camps. Cádiz provides the perfect back drop for a unique experience. The lighting in this town is phenomenal. I am expecting nothing but brilliant movies from my students- even from those who dont have any experience making movies."
Mr. Painchaud has been an iD Tech Camps employee for 5-years. When hes not teaching at iD Tech Camps, Mr. Painchaud is busy as the owner of an award-winning Hollywood-based movie production company. It is so rewarding sharing my passion and knowledge for filmmaking with students," said Mr. Painchaud. I look forward to teaching participants how to document their learning experience in Southern Spain through the lens of the camera and the magic of digital editing and special effects."
The two-week study abroad program costs $3,000. This includes accommodations, meals, excursions, and supervision, but excludes airfare. Participants depart from New York on a group flight on Saturday, July 11, and arrive in Spain on the 12th. The iD Tech Camps coordinator will be meeting all students at JFK and more details will be given upon registration. To register, please call 1-888-709-TECH (8324) or visit www.internalDrive.com.

About Cádiz, Spain
The program will be held in the quaint beach town of Cádiz, in the southern province of Andalusia. Cádiz, the oldest city in Western Europe, is a small city of 160,000 inhabitants, situated on the southernmost coast of Spain, very close to Portugal. Not yet invaded by mass tourism, the city preserves the legacy of the different cultures that have populated it (Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Christians) in its numerous monuments, museums, plazas, and charming narrow streets. For those who seek fine white sand beaches, Cádiz offers itself as the ideal city. It is also worth mentioning the traditional hospitality of the people of Cádiz, which makes it an inviting place for the exchange of learning and culture.
