Sensory Integration Center of Long Island is now offering the Dynamic Listening System. This Listening program is based on the work of Dr. Alfred Tomatis (as seen on the Today Show) and Dr. Ronald Minson.

The Listening Program uses Mozart music, Gregorian chant and in some instances, the mother's voice. This combination builds strong listening skills through auditory stimulation. It improves learning and language abilities, communication, creativity, and social behavior.

About the Center

The Sensory Integration Center of Long Island specializes in helping both children and adults free themselves of the obstacles that block their way and limit their true potential.

Sheila Bilko is a NYS licensed and ASHA Certified Speech-language Pathologist who specializes in childhood language development and disorders. Lisa Cavanaugh is a Board-certified Physician who specializes in Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine. They founded the Center in 2002 to provide a broad spectrum of proven health and learning therapies in a nurturing environment.

To achieve a positive change in the mind and body, the center utilizes both traditional and innovative health and learning therapies.

After an initial consultation to discuss the goals of the client, diagnostic tests are performed. Our clinical staff then designs a personal listening and therapeutic program to meet those needs.

A variety of therapeutic programs are available, including the Dynamic Listening System, which is based on the work of Dr. Alfred Tomatis and Dr. Ron Minson.

About Dr. Tomatis

Dr. Alfred Tomatis laid the groundwork for a new multi-disciplinary science called Audio-Psycho-Phonology (APP). It explains "why the way we listen" has a profound impact on almost all aspects of our being. In the early 50's, Dr. Tomatis also discovered that listening problems are the root of many learning disabilities.

Dr. Tomatis not only discovered the cause of learning disabilities, but also developed a highly effective technique to remedy them. Thanks to his revolutionary discoveries, he enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of children and adults. His body of work is known throughout Europe as the Tomatis Method.
