Marsha Marks is the only flight attendant ever to sign a 3 book deal with a division of Random House. The secret of her success? She describes it with one word: "Stupidity! I tell every stupid thing I've ever done and how the Bible relates to a part-time fool, like me. People like to read about someone with faith, who admits to being a part-time fool".

Marks writes using self-deprecating humor: (from 101 SIMPLE LESSONS FOR LIFE) on The Benefit of Keeping Quiet, she quotes Proverbs, "Even a fool is thought to be wise when he keeps his mouth shut". Then her comment: "Of course I know nothing of this from personal experience, but I have seen it in others."

Marsha Marks is the only Christian author, to consistently sell a book a minute at her signings, (108 books at Barnes & Noble, Savannah, GA, at her first signing ever. 200 Books during an Appearance at Barnes & Noble in Lincoln, NE) "Begging" she says. "I literally beg people to come into the store while I'm there. And I try and get media support for the signings."

AUTHOR MAKES BIGGEST MISTAKE IN MARKETING HISTORY AT CBA

Marsha Marks may have set an all time publishing-record for the most talked about marketing fopau ever seen at CBA. In July, 2001, (CBA is the Christian Booksellers Convention) she tried to do something that would make her "stand out from the crowd. But, in retrospect, maybe it wasn't such a good idea, to walk about the CBA with a sign on my back that said "TO SEE THIS AUTHOR IN A SWIMSUIT - GO TO WWW.MARSHAMARKS.COM" . I thought it was funny, I mean when you go to the site, you see, the picture is one of me the night before I delivered our little miracle baby, but no one at CBA, got the humor." In fact a full year after I wore that sign, people were still stunned...someone from a NRB radio station came up to me and said, "Marsha Marks I heard something about you, and I just have to ask if it's true. Did, or did you not, walk around CBA last year wearing a sign on your back, that said "TO SEE THIS AUTHOR IN A SWIMSUIT GO TO WWW.MARSHAMARKS.COM ?" When I said, "YES, I did, and now I was wondering if perhaps it wasn't such a good idea. He said, "Marsha, that would be like walking into Church on a SUNDAY MORNING wearing a sign like that! You wouldn't wear a sign like that into Church, would you?" I thought for a minute, and then I said, "Not to the the Morning service?"

RECORD FOR LEAST WORDS IN AN ADVICE BOOK

Marks may well have set the publishing record of least words in an advice book. At least 30% of the entries in her book are less than three paragraphs, some are less than 3 sentences. Random House editor Elsia Fryling Stanford (estanford@randomhouse.com) says "Marsha has an unique ability to say more with less") And Publisher Don Pape (dpape@randomhouse.com says, "one of the reasons we publish Marsha Marks is her success in communicating deeper scriptural principles with a few words and sounding like the common person, instead of a heady theologian".)

The Flight Attendant who sets publishing records, with her contracts, her book signings, her unusual marketing tactic, and her style of short and simple writing, is also still working as an International Flight attendant out of ATL.
