Official Launch Of The Lesbian Chefs Association
A global resource established to meet the needs of lesbian chefs, cooks, culinary students and anyone who appreciates great food. Members can network with peers, find or post a job, find or be a mentor, participate in regional and national networking events, and more.
Marina, Calif. (PRWEB) May 9, 2003 -- The official launch of the Lesbian Chefs Association was announced today. The Lesbian Chefs Association (LCA) was born out of a need for lesbian chefs, cooks, culinary students and home cooks to connect with one another, worldwide. Members share technical culinary knowledge and basic kitchen "survival" skills, network, and find mentors. Benefits include access to the; Forums, Newsletter, Membership Directory, Job Board, and Business Resource Directory. Members receive discounts on: fees for national and regional networking events and registration fees for the LCA National Convention and Trade Show. Members are also eligible to be nominated for the Chef of the Year Lavender Toque Award.
I am aware of how isolated a lot of lesbians in the culinary industry feel. There is such a wealth of culinary talent among us but so many of us are the lone woman in our respective kitchens. We needed an organization to bridge the gap and connect all this talent. I created the Lesbian Chefs Association to bridge that gap," says Paula Gray co-founder. She adds, I have also created forums for each area of expertise in the kitchen as well as ones specifically for students. As we grow we will evolve to meet the needs of our membership."
As individuals and as a group, LCA members command a lot of buying power in the food and beverage industry. LCA members take great care in selecting vendors and suppliers and we want to provide them with a Business Resource Directory, which includes companies who support our mission. This directory will also list member restaurants and businesses so members can support each other. The LCA also has opportunities for individual and corporate sponsorship of the Association in addition to one-time special events sponsorship. Those companies that choose to sponsor the Lesbian Chefs Association will benefit from a prominent presence throughout.
