Cedar Rapids, IA---Cedar Brewing Company announces the simultaneous release of two new ales in celebration of the end of fighting in Iraq and the victory over Saddam Hussein. The Victory Cream Ale, and the Tony Blair Pale English Ale are designed and brewed by the Cedar Brewing Company's Brewmaster, Mike Snyder, who has been brewing for Cedar Brewing since the brewpub's inception seven years ago in 1996. The ales are the company's forth and fifth politically named concoctions since it received national attention from MSNBC for The Hanging Chad Ale in November 2000. In March of 2001, Cedar Brewing Company introduced its Pardon Me Porter - "a beer to help forgive" after the Clinton impeachment scandal, and the Not Sorry Ale after the mid-air Navy spy plane collision off the coast of China in April 2001.
About the new beers.
Victory Cream Ale is straw colored cream ale, lower in alcohol (about 3% by weight) than the typical cream ale and a few less calories than most "Light" beers commercially available but still contains a lot of flavor. The combination of 2-row malted barley, American Cascade, and English Fuggles hops give this ale a unique, refreshing flavor with a lingering but pleasant aftertaste.
Tony Blair Pale English Ale is a full bodied ale has a light copper color, contains just over 4% alcohol by weight, and is currently our second pale ale on tap. Galena, Fuggles, and Brewers Gold hops give this ale about 34 International Bittering Units (IBUs), which equates to a slightly bitter flavor that is not too overpowering. Two-row malted barley, German Munich malt, and several other specialty grains combined with the hops create a well-balanced flavor and aroma.
