Classy Singer Brings Act Down To Street Level

With a slew of jazz clubs closing in San Francisco, classy vocalist Sony Holland has borrowed an idea from folk musicians by making the city streets her venue.

(PRWEB) May 11, 2003 -

Since moving to San Francisco in January of 2003, Sony Holland, a classically beautiful and talented jazz vocalist has made her living by performing on the city streets, selling CDs to delighted tourists at Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39.

With a slew of jazz venues recently closing their doors in the struggling tourist mecca, Sony decided to bring her highbrow" act down to street level, and has made new fans from all over the world in the process.

Many interesting things have happened since she started singing outdoors. Neil Sedaka bought one of her CDs, a shop manager at Ghirardelli Square has started up a Sony Holland fan group, and after hearing her at Pier 39, KRML radio DJ Don Bowen added her to the stations play list.

While Sony continues to perform in more traditional venues at night, she has also been selected as a semi-finalist in the Bay Area Cabaret Competition.
