WHO:    Dick Vitale, one of college basketballs top analysts and ambassadors, will speak at Visions, the first annual dinner sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. He speaks enthusiastically about the lessons learned from sports and how to apply them to business, family, community and daily life.

WHAT:    Dick Vitales humor and inspiration are drawn from his career as a sixth grade teacher, a college and professional basketball coach, and years as one of the best-known network basketball analysts in history.

He joined ESPN during the 1979-1980 season (just after the networks September 1979 launch) following a successful college and pro-coaching career. His thorough knowledge of the game is brought forth in an enthusiastic, passionate, sometimes controversial - but never boring - style.

Vitales talents and influence extend far beyond just being a game analyst. He provides commentary on a variety of topics in his Dick Vitale's Fast Break segment, which airs Wednesday evenings during the college basketball season on SportsCenter, and serves as a college basketball analyst for ESPN Radio. He has been a college basketball analyst for ABC Sports since 1988, and has also covered the NBA Finals and the 1992 Summer Olympics for ABC Radio. His weekly ESPN.com column is one of the websites most popular features.

WHY:   With over four hundred people from the Greater Hartford community in attendance, this special evening will raise significant dollars for the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartfords 2003 Annual Campaign. These dollars help to make a difference in the lives of Jews everywhere.
