Private Two-Way Wireless Data Network Used to Monitor Oil Wells in East Texas - CX2 Technologies Deploys Another Network

A reliable wireless communications medium is essential to any remote monitoring program. CX2's 220 MHz narrowband equipment proves useful and economical in addressing petroleum field needs. Today, more companies are looking at this unique wireless solution rather than a costly 3G implementation.

Burr Ridge, IL (PRWEB) May 14, 2003 -- CX2 Technologies is announcing the deployment of a private 220MHz narrowband two-way wireless data network in east Texas. This deployment is the first of three planned phases that will, if successful, ultimately lead to the deployment of CX2 Technology in oil and gas producing areas nationwide. The network is a comprehensive technical solution including remote data radios with built-in modbus protocol, base station equipment, a network data server, an application server including a well monitoring and control application, and support services.

Tom Houck, President of CX2, noted, Once again CX2 Technologies has been relied on to provide a comprehensive data solution for a difficult remote data situation. Our customer is one of the top oil and gas production companies in the US. They have a very real need for well production data but the solutions available up until now have had serious limitations. The most significant of which are high cost, complex configuration and operations, and limited reliability. We hope to resolve all of these issues once and for all by successfully completing all three phases of the proposed project.

By working closely with the customer CX2 was able to specify, design and deploy the two-way wireless network quickly and effectively. Ernie Reeve, CX2 Director of Operations, remarked on the speed of the project, We literally brought this network up over night. We arrived at the site on Monday and by Wednesday we had established two-way remote data communications between our customers IT operations center and their remote oil well sites over twenty miles away." That accomplishment is even more noteworthy when one considers the size of the measured coverage area - over 1000 square miles.

Tom Houck added, What we have done in Texas is important because it validates our belief that the CX2 technology is indeed less complicated, more economical, and more reliable. We expect a groundswell of interest in our two-way wireless data solution as the word spreads about our successes here in Texas and elsewhere."

About CX2 Technologies
CX2 Technologies has developed breakthrough technology that uses the unique properties of the 220 MHz broadcast spectrum to make short burst, two-way data transmission possible, practical, and affordable. They are the first to succeed in creating a working application in the 220 MHz spectrum, and have developed an infrastructure that allows organizations to use this technology across the U.S. and Mexico. Among the first industries to take advantage of this quantum leap in wireless data transmission are automatic meter reading (AMR) and automatic vehicle location (AVL).
