Netfast Communications, Inc. Equipment Donation to Aid
Carnegie Mellon University Electrical and Computer Engineering Program
Netfast Communications, Inc., a leading network infrastructure integrator, has donated a Cisco GSR 12000 router valued at approximately $175,000 to Carnegie Mellon University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department. The equipment will be used for research purposes as well as to connect various campus buildings in Pittsburgh, PA via multiple optical OC-48 links.
Dr. Pradeep Khosla, head of Carnegie Mellons Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, has been working with Netfast Communications, Inc. to facilitate the donation and installation of the equipment.
"This donation will help us establish a state-of-the-art connectivity for the Carnegie Mellons top ranked Electrical and Computer Engineering Department," Dr. Khosla stated. The Cisco GSR 12000 equipment will significantly enhance the ECE departments research, communication and computing capabilities.
The Netfast Communications, Inc. donation consists of a Cisco GSR 12012 router, six OC-48 packet-over-Sonnet cards, associated routing and switching cards for the router, as well as dual power supplies, and the installation rack.
