Living in wine country poses certain toxic risks that will be explored at an upcoming talk given by Dr. Christopher Henderson, N.D., L.Ac., director of Calistogas Optimal Health Center. The free event will be held May 27, 6-8 PM at the Calistoga Community Center.

Dr. Henderson will discuss ways to minimize the effects of toxins on the body and
examine the basic principles of detoxification. This will include an explanation of
detoxification physiology and tissue cleansing, and identification of the key
ingredients for a detoxification program.

Toxins, a part of everyday life, are produced from metabolic activities that occur when pesticides and other chemicals are introduced to the environment. These produce unstable and often poisonous products that can be found in the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink, according to Dr. Henderson.

The effects of these toxins on your body can be minimized," said Dr. Henderson who
will provide participants with information about how to create their own detoxification programs.

Henderson earned his Naturopath Doctorate from Washingtons Bastyr University where he also received his Master of Science degree in acupuncture.
