Breathing New Life Into A Dying Industry
Even in a world in which people are claiming that the music industry is dying, a new and innovative label dares to peak its head out of the woodworks.
Even in a world in which people are claiming that the music industry is dying, a new and innovative label dares to peak its head out of the woodworks. This label is called Crazy Fungus Records, and its unlike any record label youve ever heard of.
Crazy Fungus Records is a DIY (do it yourself) electronic and experimental record label that wants to create a trend for independent labels. What makes Crazy Fungus Records different than most, if not all, other labels? Well, first of all, the label cares primarily about the artists and the fans. Unlike with most other labels, the bottom line is secondary to the music, those that create the music, and those that listen to the music.
On the artist side of things, we are trying something that hasnt been tried since the days of Tony Wilson and Factory Records. We give full artistic freedom to the artists on the label, we sign anyone in the electronic and experimental genres that wants to be signed, we pay 50% royalties on profits, and most importantly, we dont have any long-term agreements that bind artists for years. If an artist wants to break away from the label, all they have to do is give us a 30-day written notice, and they are free to go without any further obligation to us. Try that with any other label and see what happens!
Along with our artists, the music fans are the most important people to us. Without them, it would be impossible for artists and record labels to survive! People are getting tired of shelling out $18.98 for CDs with only 2 or 3 good songs. Its no wonder file swapping services have become so popular! At Crazy fungus Records, we sell our CDs for only $4 for EPs and $8 for full-length albums. Along with offering the fairest prices for CDs, we also feature streaming audio clips of all our songs, and each CD has 1 or 2 full length, high quality, MP3s available that you can download directly from our website! We are also currently looking into ways to offer our music to you in more up to date" formats than the ubiquitous, and over 20 years old, CD! Stay tuned to see what we come up with as a distribution format for our music!
As you can see, the music industry may be dying," but we at Crazy Fungus Records are determined to bring new life to the business by treating our artists, and our fans, with the respect and fairness they deserve. If you like what you see, and youd like to either get signed to the label or purchase some of our releases, please visit our website at www.crazyfungus.com. You will be doing your part in supporting TRUE independent music and bringing about a change in the music industry that will benefit the music, the artists, and the fans, rather than the bottom line!
