Malaysia¡¦s MSC Getting a Peek of WEM 2003

The World Education Market (WEM) is the leading event that brings together educational institutions; government decision makers; education practitioners; and buyers & suppliers of the best & latest in content, technology, solutions & expertise. For the year 2003, WEM will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from 20th to 23rd May 2003. Malaysia¡¦s Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) is organising a Malaysia Pavilion for MSC-status companies to showcase their products & services; and to network & benchmark against global partners from both the public & private sectors.

The World Education Market (WEM) is the leading event that brings together educational institutions; government decision makers; education practitioners; and buyers & suppliers of the best & latest in content, technology, solutions & expertise. For the year 2003, WEM will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from 20th to 23rd May 2003. Malaysia¡¦s Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) is organising a Malaysia Pavilion for MSC-status companies to showcase their products & services; and to network & benchmark against global partners from both the public & private sectors.

According to Dr. Yew Kok Meng, MDC¡¦s Senior Manager who will be leading these companies to WEM 2003, ¡§We provide a platform for the MSC-status companies to showcase their products, to benchmark themselves and to network with other companies.

¡§Since this is our first participation in WEM we have targeted 8 exhibitors under the Pavilion and I am happy to note that all 8 booths have been taken up,¡¨ he added.

The Malaysia Pavilion aims to serve the following objectives:

¡P   To exhibit & promote Malaysian MSC-status companies;
¡P   To position Malaysia as the preferred investment location for educational related products, services & solutions;
¡P   To explore potential markets & areas of collaboration with WEM participants;
¡P   To position the MSC as one of the global educational research & development (R&D) hub; and
¡P   To position the MSC as a regional resource centre for content development

¡§Apart from showcasing the MSC and participating MSC-status companies, we will be getting a peek of the latest trends in the education sector, particularly on the innovative use of technology within the industry in other countries. From there, we will be able to benchmark ourselves,¡¨ he added.
