MosChip announces availability of new USB and PCI Bridge chips

MosChip sampling PCI to PCI bridge chip and USB to serial and parallel connectivity chips. These high integration solutions offer multiple connectivity options.

Hyderabad, India and Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) May 19, 2003 -- MosChip Technologies announces the availability of six new products. The MSC9250 is a transparent PCI to PCI bridge chip with hot plug capabilities and special FIFO configurations that allow for higher performance data transfers across the bridge. The MCS7705, MCS7710, MCS7715 and MCS7720 devices provide extension of legacy connectivity for todays newer PCs. The devices allow PC users to continue to use existing peripheral devices on newer PCs that have dropped the serial and parallel port support through the on-board USB ports. The MCS7717 adds three down-stream USB ports to a serial and a parallel interface. All chips are self-contained solutions that include the physical layer (PHY) circuitry to minimize chip count. The devices are fully supported under the various Windows and Linux operating systems.

Newer PCs have transitioned away from providing on-board serial and parallel ports leaving the user with the option of replacing all of their peripheral devices (i.e. printers, scanners, faxes, etc) or purchasing a USB to serial/parallel adapter cable. The new MosChip solutions facilitate the continued use of existing devices while reducing the cost of the adapter cable.

The PCI to PCI bridge is a high speed bridge that can be used to extend the connectivity within PCs and servers. The bridge chip allows the connection of four secondary bus masters plus an external secondary bus arbiter. The MCS9250 is a pin for pin functional replacement for Texas Instruments PCI2250 and Intels 21152 bridge products.

Dayakar Reddy, Managing Director of Moschip, said today, These products are MosChips reply to the demand for high integration devices that are complete integrated solutions including all the support software and reference design information".

All of these devices plus evaluation boards are currently sampling, at very attractive price points. Contact MosChip for pricing, sample requests, or evaluation boards at www.moschip.com.
