You can find her on sites like HerPlanet network; ivillage.com the women network or mywoman2woman.com Now Nancy Johnson is co-hosting a local MyWoman Expo in Eugene Celebrating women in business and help our local food bank; Food for Lane County. Ms Johnson is on a mission to help small business succeed. We also look for ways to give back to the local community so there will be a food drive June 21st at the MyWoman Expo at the Red Lion Inn Eugene on Coburg Rd.
12 million women started businesses last year for many this was their first adventure into business ownership. In direct sales business like Avon, Pampered Chef, Herbalife and such 72% of those businesses are now owned by women. Nancy Johnson has spent the last 3 years connecting with many of these women. And helping them get the head start they need to be successful. Small business started by both genders is growing by leaps and bounds.
Many people want something more today than just going to work day after day, commuting, paying child care, and playing office politics" says Johnson. Today with business closing, and companies treating employees more like commodities than valued workers, a lot of people are looking for change. On the other hand many are finding success in part because of the internet. Now this is not to say it is easy to start any business. People really have to connect with something that is meaningful and personal to them. Those people that are succeeding have found their niche, something that gets them out of bed in the morning ready to go even when start up is slow and money is even slower at times.
But there is no bigger rush than working hard and seeing that start to pay off. The internet can be the great equalized. It is a tool however and just because one has a web site doesnt mean that success will come. What the internet can do is make you look like you have a business that says New York or Beverly Hills penthouse office, when really you work smack dab in the middle of your living room. But building a business is almost exactly the same as starting one offline. You need to have a plan, marketing strategies, public relations and a vision for our business. Johnson helps small business with starting out and growing a business.
Small business almost always has a limited budget when it comes to building their business. They find it hard to afford quality advertising to reach the public. Johnson is about to launch a network specifically designed to help small business join forces and connect with a broader market. She is taking skills she learned from her time online being part of various online communities to build a Network built on members needs and input, helping small business joins forces like never before. Every member will be able to help us build this from the ground up. And we are building in member rewards so all members will be able to get something back for helping us grow. We hope of have this network ready to launch by June.
