NEW EMC MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY GUIDE FROM SCHAFFNER PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE TOOL FOR EMC TESTING
Edison, NJ (PRWEB) May 21, 2003 -- A new, comprehensive engineering guide on measurement uncertainty in EMC tests has been produced by Schaffner EMC, Inc. The handy reference guide provides a clear, straightforward explanation for those involved in EMC testing of how to calculate and apply measurement uncertainty. The guide will enable engineers to take steps in the testing procedure to address and minimize uncertainty, as well as to understand which contributions to uncertainty could be increased without affecting the overall level.
The new Schaffner EMC Measurement Uncertainty Guide provides the basic concepts for identifying the relevant contributions to uncertainty, and the calculation of total uncertainty from these contributions.
The guide also includes a section on emissions uncertainties, giving examples of how to set up an uncertainty budget for each of the common EMC emissions measurements. The guide covers conducted tests, radiated tests, disturbance
power, immunity uncertainties, transients, surges, and harmonics and flicker uncertainties.
The new EMC guide also briefly covers the effect of the new CISPR-based emissions standards document, CISPR 16, CISPR 16-4(3), on measurement uncertainty and how it must be calculated and reported.
Schaffners latest guide follows the practice described in UKAS publication LAB 34, The Expression of Uncertainty in EMC Testing," a document that is in line with guidelines produced by the International Committee for Weights and Measures.
