The Thank You for Teaching Program provides an opportunity for business members of the Chamber to recognize the contribution that employees of the local educational systems make to the local community.

Alamance-Burlington School System Recognizes Carolina

Burlington, NC-The Alamance-Burlington School System recently recognized local businesses for their support at its annual report to the community meeting held at Alamance Country Club. Carolina Biological Supply Company received the highest recognition as the Alamance County School-to-Careers Partner of the Year. The company was chosen because of the outstanding contributions it has made to the school systems initiatives during the past year.

Carolina has hosted teachers and students on tours; participated in the teacher intern program; provided tutors and speakers for area classrooms; supplied free equipment, materials, and teaching kits for teachers/classrooms; led staff development workshops and supplied free materials for all science teachers. Company representatives served on the Education Council and the tutoring subcommittee as well as chaired the teacher recruitment/retention subcommittee. As a result of this last committee, new Alamance-Burlington teachers are provided discounts to help defray moving/settlement expenses.

Another result of this teacher recruitment and retention committee is a unique cooperative venture that unites the Alamance Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, and the educational community. The Thank You for Teaching Program provides an opportunity for members of the Chamber to recognize the contribution that employees of the local educational systems make to our community. Current employees of local schools and colleges are entitled to receive discounts with local businesses.
