Seattle, Washington- Seattle Publishing announces the development of the Gutenberg Publishing System, an automated publishing system for catalog companies.
The Gutenberg Publishing System is based on the FileMaker Pro database delivering project time reduction in excess of 60%. Rather than hunting for appropriate SKU data and images, catalog designers work with current product data and images placed automatically on the pages being designed.
Co-founder Jay Stilwell explains that, Gutenberg is an asset management system that is flexibly automated." His firm has programmed Gutenberg to accept raw data from any source and output it directly onto designed pages in the form of templates or in a form that permits the designers to continue laying out their pages in the programs they already use. Imagine," says Stilwell, rather than deploying an enterprise solution a cataloger can utilize all their current programs, manage their assets and automate the catalog process to the extent they wish. And, they may change this at any point."
Seattle Publishing is a 17-year old custom publishing organization that began developing the Gutenberg Publishing System in 1995 to help a catalog client reduce their catalog layout time from one year to one month. Current Gutenberg users include retail, manufacturing and distribution.
