AS AN AWARD-WINNING BAGPIPE TEACHER

Aaron is also a member of the popular Celtic Band, The Wicked Tinkers, which has sold over 35,000 cds in the United States and Europe. Aaron is an authority on the lore and popularity of bagpipes and is often asked regarding many topics surrounding bagpipes. He discusses why there is an increasing trend of people wanting to learn how to play the bagpipes, why is there a trend towards using bagpipes in films and tv programs, and what is it about the sound of bagpipes that reaches people emotionally --or drives them away? Aaron Shaw has 20 years of experience playing the Highland Bagpipes and Scottish Small Pipes. A private piping instructor since 1983, Aaron works with beginning to advanced students. He is most recently the winner of the Strachan Cup for Professional Piping in London, England and has earned 36 first place piping awards, 27 second place awards and 8 third place awards since 1979. He is a member of two Los Angeles-based bands, The Wicked Tinkers" and Forest for the Trees." He is also a piper with the Los
Angeles Police Pipe Band. Aaron studied in Scotland at the College of Piping and Piping Center in Glasgow and is a holder of Senior and Teachers Certificates from the Institute of Piping in Scotland. He is also a teacher at the College of Piping Summer School in Carlsbad, California. He continues to be professional level piping competitor.
Aaron has been featured on many film and television programs including The Fugitive," So I Married an Axe Murderer," High Incident," Mad TV," The Drew Carey Show," among others. For the past two years, the Wicked Tinkers have been featured on the Chabad Telethon. He has had numerous live performances with the Wicked Tinkers, Forest for the Trees, the Young Dubliners and many others. He has also performed at many Renaissance Faires and other venues on the West Coast and has performed in countless parades, weddings, parties and funerals. He has recorded with Bonnie Raitt on Luck of the Draw," on the Wicked Tinkers albums, Forest for the Trees albums, and many others.
