NBA Realigns, Improves Programs in Jacksonville, Florida
(ST. LOUIS -- May 20, 2003) -- Officials with the National Benevolent Association announced today plans to realign and improve programs associated with NBA Florida Christian Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
As part of the realignment, NBA will add one program location, explore ways to improve two others and discontinue two programs.
A new satellite office for NBA HomeCare Plus, a home health service launched in 2001, will open this summer inside the community center on the NBA Florida Christian Center campus and be accessible to residents from adjacent communities. At the same time, NBA officials are considering ways to improve two apartment facilities on that campus: NBA Florida Christian Apartments, a 180-unit apartment facility built in 1972, and NBA Sundale Manor, a 90-unit apartment facility built in 1982. Both provide HUD-subsidized housing for low-income older adults and are in need of infrastructure improvements to maintain their long-term viability.
Programs to be discontinued include NBA Our House, which provides Alzheimers day care to 50 clients at locations in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, and NBA Hillyer House, which provides assisted-living care to 11 clients on the campus of NBA Florida Christian Center. They will close, effective July 31.
NBA will assist individuals served by those programs in finding new arrangements for care as well as employees of those programs in moving forward toward other employment opportunities.
