MULTOS CONSORTIUM ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBERSHIP
SyntiQ International B.V. to join MULTOS Consortium
The MULTOS Consortium today confirmed that SyntiQ International B.V. has joined the Consortium. SyntiQ International delivers solutions to reduce the cost-of-ownership and to accelerate the time-to-market of implementing new functionality with a focus on the POS terminal and ECR environment.
The SyntiQ Pay solution, which can be managed remotely, utilises a 32-bit Java computer and a multi megabyte Flash memory store which provides a consistent application platform for the delivery of CAD-based applications, such as EMV or loyalty. A MULTOS chip on the SAM acts as a cryptographic gateway for the secure loading and deleting of applications as well as key transformation and generation.
"We welcome SyntiQ to the Consortium. The company is a long-standing business partner of ours, and the Consortium will benefit greatly from SyntiQfs technical and business contributions as well as the extraordinary innovation provided by this unique solution," said John Wood, Chairman of the MULTOS Consortium.
"We are delighted to be joining the MULTOS Consortium at such an important time for the industry," said Edwin van Staden, CEO SyntiQ International. MULTOS represents the highest level of security possible, and is an elemental part of the unique proposition presented by SyntiQ-Pay. Devices equipped in that way will have a major impact on the infrastructure costs for issuers and acquirers, and give them an industry leading ability to respond to both regulatory and market changes."

How the Membership Works
Founder membership is most appropriate for companies wishing to develop their own implementation of the MULTOS specification or who want to contribute to the governance of the Consortium. Key founder members are operating systems implementers, silicon vendors, card vendors, major infrastructure suppliers, etc.
Alliance membership is for companies that donft initially intend to implement the MULTOS specifications but wish to contribute to their technical development through technical expertise in specific areas or markets. Principal participation is through the Technical Advisory Group and associated working groups. Examples of potential alliance members include technology systems integrators, application developers, technical card issuers, card vendors, key management systems companies, etc.

About Syntiq International
SyntiQ International delivers solutions to reduce the cost-of-ownership and to accelerate the time-to-market of implementing new functionality with a focus on the POS terminal and ECR environment. SyntiQfs first product -SyntiQ Pay- is an innovative combination of hard- and software containing a complete payment environment that can be remotely controlled securely and fits into existing and in new payment terminals. This concept is based on the powerful SyntiQ Pay chip, sized in a standard SIM format.
In close co-operation, some of SyntiQ's partners have developed the hardware of this SIM chip and the software for the terminals and host, including the software for remotely and secure controlling the payment software. Today, the solution still remains unique.
