CHILD ABUSE:
MAN DRAWS ATTENTION TO SUBJECT IN NEW FILM "EDGE OF NOWHERE"
Celebrity has it's benefits and for actor Steven Man, it's to draw attention to the taboo subject of child abuse, in the feature film, "Edge of Nowhere".
Hollywood, CA - Steven Man is quickly becoming a buzz name in Hollywood. Everyone seems to have heard of this up and coming star, but can't quite put their finger on him - and he's taking advantage of the attention with his new starring role in, "Edge of Nowhere", while drawing attention to the painful truth of child abuse.
Man portrays a grown man, a victim of violent and painful child abuse. The repercussions of the abuse have molded his life, his character, and have given rise to his fury. An erruption which manifests in the accidental murder of a woman he meets at a bar.
While making "Edge", Man discovered first hand, child abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of demographic. "I realized how blessed I was", he explains, "when many friends and even crew members confided they were victims". "One of the most memorable moments happened when my character breaks down and becomes a child in the arms of the woman he murdered... the entire crew packed themselves into this little, cheap motel room set to watch and when I looked over, everyone had tears in their eyes; one person ran out crying... except for the murder, it was a replay of their life."
Child abuse is cowardly and vile, children are too young and usually too scared to stop it. An indelible scar, it tears away the veil of innocence that children have for the shortest time, as it is. "I look at my daughter", says Man, "and I'm lost - I just can't imagine what sort of animal would hurt such infinite beauty."
In addition to Executive Producing "Edge of Nowhere", Man is also producing a CD, the benefits going to charities that support children who are victims of child abuse. The film is expected this year, with a simultaneous release of the CD.
