World No Tobacco Day is a World Health Organization designated event and carries a different theme each year. This year the focus is how the public is influenced by tobacco through film and fashion. The Knowledge=Power event will be the first of its kind in Canada for tobacco control.
Youth Tobacco Coalition has inspired and empowered our young people to take a leadership role in the tobacco epidemic throughout Ontario since 1998. YTC is a unique and progressive organization with a novel approach to engaging and sustaining youth leaders. By de-glamourizing, de-cooling and heightening awareness among all ages of all populations in their own communities, YTCs mission is to engage youth of all ages in the planning and implementation of initiatives that raise awareness about tobacco. The majority of YTC youth are between the ages of 15-17, smokers and non-smokers from diverse communities including Francophone, First Nations and Rural. This event has been organized by youth for youth to promote a tobacco free lifestyle.
The media and public are asked to come out and support this worthy event.
