IGEL TECHNOLOGY CLEVER CLIENTING NOW DELIVERS WEBEX CONFERENCING
IGEL is the first Thin Client Manufacturer to deliver WebEx Enabled Terminals
Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 24, 2003 -based Clever Clients, has announced support for WebEx (NASDAQ: WEBX) web-based conferencing and communications on its suite of thin clients. The IGEL Clever Clients are the first thin client terminals to support WebEx. This feature means IGEL customers can access fully functional WebEx conferencing sessions through their thin client terminals.
United Rentals (NYSE: URI), the largest equipment rental company in North America, is one such organization that will take advantage of WebEx-enabled IGEL thin clients. The company has thousands of thin clients deployed across the United States. WebEx is their meeting tool of choice and they looked to IGEL for a solution that enables delivery of interactive training sessions, staff meetings, and seminars to their terminal users. WebEx supports data, voice and video communications and allows United Rental employees to communicate in real-time.
WebEx released their Linux software very recently, and building on our success with the Mozilla Firebird browser, we assimilated the WebEx components into our standard IGEL Linux distribution. This means all existing and future IGEL thin client installations can be WebEx enabled," says Steve Earle, President US Operations for IGEL Technology.
"Many of our customers are adopting WebEx as their preferred platform for conducting meetings and training sessions via the Internet; they have been asking for a way to incorporate WebEx technology natively in a terminal device," says Jeff Kalberg, Manager of Thin Client Solutions for Computer Products, an IGEL Premier Business Partner headquartered in Cincinnati, OH. IGEL fulfills this need, and allows customers to extend WebEx technology to all enterprise associates."
Our customers are focused on value," says Earle. Adding WebEx functionality to our software continues to extend our solution and provides very low cost communications across the enterprise."
