Squidz Ink Design announces a unique web site launch: The Group for Cultural Documentation (TGCD).
Houston, Texas :: May 23, 2003 :: An engaging & socially significant new web site launches! Washington, D.C based TGCD undertakes projects that result in increased cultural understanding within and among cultural groups, using the mediums of photodocumentation, the arts, and the preservation of cultural traditions.
http://www.tgcd.org" target="_blank">The Group for Cultural Documentation web site was created to communicate the non-profit groups mission, educate the public about TGCDs programs and facilitate funding and collaboration by supporters. Past program sponsors include: Ben & Jerrys Homade, Inc., The Rockefeller Foundation, The Smithsonian Institutions Office of Folklife and Ethnic Heritage and The Weyerhauser Family Foundation.
TGCD is committed to documenting the evolving soul, spirit and images of tradition and cultural identity and bringing people together by exploring who we are individually and collectively, clarifying our similarities and differences, and strengthening the common threads of our humanity.
Photographer, Roland L. Freeman, is the founder and President of TGCD. Freeman, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, began his career as a freelance photographer in the 1960's, photographing the Civil Rights Movement. Assignments since then have emphasized photojournalism, commercial work, and photodocumentation.
