Growing Up Yoga Grand Opening
Applying an ancient practice to the modern stresses that children face
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) May 25, 2003 -- New yoga classes for children aim to improve health and alleviate stress for local youth! Growing Up Yoga, a company that creates a fun learning environment in its yoga classes for children, announced today that it will open its doors for business, on Monday, June 2, 2003. The company provides classes to children ages 4-16.
Laura Greer, the founder of Growing Up Yoga, is a certified YogaKids® Facilitator. YogaKids® is an integrative learning method that uses yoga as a foundation. Greer has a vision of applying yoga to help children manage stress and to empower them to become all that they can be. She states,
Growing Up Yoga provides a creative, non-competitive environment that improves childrens health, self-esteem and concentration while helping them build strength, flexibility and balance."
Classes are broken into appropriate age groups. For younger children, activities may include drawing a story and then acting it out through yoga poses or learning about the environment by imitating animals and elements from nature.
In the adolescent classes, the pre-teens learn about their changing bodies and discover more about the way in which yoga can be used to help alleviate stress. Classes for teens emphasize more challenging postures in order to meet their maturing needs and to prepare them for becoming adults.
The classes draw on each childs unique sense of self, helping them to overcome the excessive pressures of this very stressful time that we live in," Greer explained.
Growing Up Yoga is committed to creating a better world through the health and well being of children by helping them set the foundation for leading well-balanced and healthy lives filled with abundance and joy.
