Twelve New Instructors Certified to Teach Rape Escape Women's Self-Defense Program
Instructors from around the U.S. and Ireland have been certified to teach the Rape Escape self-defense program for women.
PHOENIX -- Twelve instructors from around the nation and from Ireland are now certified to teach the Rape Escape method of women's self-defense.
A two-day program, held by Brad Parker of the Womens Self-Defense Institute, was held May 3 and 4 in Phoenix to certify the instructors to teach all three levels of the popular women's self-defense course. The first level of Rape Escape covers the most common sexual assault positions, the next level covers date rape scenarios and more advanced rape scenarios and the final level deals with a homicidal rapist attacking with a weapon.
The intense course covered all of the techniques, the philosophy behind the unique Fight Like a Girl motto, how to teach the popular course, and what pitfalls to avoid when dealing with sensitive subject matter.
The new instructors are: Peter Iacavazzi, Kathy Maxwell, Kevin Maxwell, Andrea Peuster, Margie Proctor, Tom Proctor, Ray Butcher, David Rollins, Dr. Abida Ripley, Steve Kardian, Mike Wall, and Wendy Borst.
Parker said additional certification courses are planned for other areas of the country as well as the UK later this year.
The Women's Self-Defense Institute is a community service organization dedicated to educating and training women in rape prevention and personal protection.
