Natures Place partners with Sea World and Walt Disney World for spactacular Therapy Opportunity
Natures Place is excited to announce our therapy plans for the summer. We will be conducting treatment on Saturdays from approximately 8:30AM to 12PM at Walt Disney World and Sea World. All therapy will be one-on-one. We will be working in the natural setting at Disneys Fort Wilderness with animals in the petting farm, the Disney horse barn, the marina, and the beach area. At Sea World, an educational presenter will guide our visit as we include hands-on tasks and activities with marine animals to assist us. We will be in direct contact with marine and land animal-assistants at both facilities. As an additional point of interest, Natures Place is also considering a dolphin swim session at Discovery Cove.
New reading program that enables clients to become more proficient at reading and comprehension.
Most phonic programs attach sounds to letters. If a person has difficulty associating letter name, letter form and speech sound; it will be difficult for him to remember what sound a letter makes. Most phonic programs require phonemic awareness (the ability to identify individual sounds and order within words)
The LiPS (Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing) program combines visual, (site words), auditory (phonetic processing) and language (oral, vocabulary, and use of content) to reach the only goal of reading, which is comprehension. Basically, students hear, see, and feel the sound units of language. It teaches students how to comprehend material instead of assuming that the student is able to comprehend material.
The program begins with an evaluation that is analyzed by a speech therapist to determine their beginning level of phonemic awareness, comprehension, and visual skills. A trained clinician provides instruction.
Teaching begins with training in the feeling of sounds in letter combinations. At the same time these sounds feelings are labeled so the student understands how sounds are made. Moving through the program, the student learns to attach sound feeling to letters and letter patterns.
HippoTherapy to begin summer of 2003
Many thanks to all who have helped in the construction of the corral and barn area! It has been a true labor of love to get this horse therapy program off the ground. There are many, many benefits to incorporating hippo(Greek meaning horse) therapy into treatment plans.
Adopt- a Grandparent: Help create the next Greatest Generation!
Adopt a grandparent is a program that would bring together the generations in a way that promotes a family support system. Parents, children and grandparents" would benefit from this program, along with the entire community in many ways.
Our goal is to strengthen the community by connecting those who would enjoy the companionship of an extended family. This would provide additional mentors for children, bring a sense of purpose to the elderly, and give parents an opportunity to ask for guidance from those who have a lifetime of experience to offer.
Located in the Four Corners Area, we are able to serve those who live in Lake, Polk, Orange, and Osceola Counties.
