Peyrats street scenes depict the Paris that was," and his subjects are the pleasant and tranquil streets and houses of his community.
A cousin of the famous painter Maurice Utrillo, Peyrats craftsmanship is direct and simple and uncluttered, reminiscent of some primitive painters. His colors are soft warm tones of the earth and are associated with childhood remembrances, and he had a unique ability to faithfully capture atmosphere and weather on canvas.
