TriGuard Group Develops Security Gateway Solution to Reduce False Alarm Dispatches

With the TriGuard Security Gateway, home owners/renters provide input into the alarm notification process and are able to cancel false alarms before the central station and authorities are notified.

Needham, MA - TriGuard Group, LLC has developed a first-of-its-kind False Alarm Reduction solution, to address the growing problem of false alarm dispatches in cities across the country. False alarm dispatches have become a serious problem nationwide, costing an estimated $1.5 billion annually. Local municipalities are implementing various fine-based and verified-response policies to combat the overwhelming problem.

The goal of these emerging policies is not merely to reduce false alarms," says Pamela Layton, founder and President of TriGuard, but also to give legitimate alarm events the attention they require. Our Security Gateway is the tool which citizens and the police can use together towards that end."

With the TriGuard Security Gateway, system owners provide input into the alarm notification process and are able to cancel false alarms before the central station and authorities are notified. The Gateway allows customers to easily manage their security over the phone or Internet. By taking charge of their security, customers can reduce the burden placed on central stations and emergency authorities. We expect the TriGuard Gateway to considerably reduce the number of signals into the central station," says Kerry-Ann McStravick of Alarm Central, located in Quincy, MA.

Central stations play an important role in the notification process and need to be used for what they do best, which is providing notifications to authorities for true emergencies," says Layton. Currently, central stations are operating at a disadvantage because they cant easily tap into the customer's knowledge about the home and the situation. Although central stations call the home to attempt to verify the alarm, most false alarm dispatches occur when the system owner is off premise. "It is not possible to assess the severity of a situation with nothing more than a digital string of alarm information from the premise," added McStravick, "More information allows us to provide more reliable results."

The resulting benefit from using the TriGuard Security Gateway is that legitimate alarms will be recognized as such and acted upon appropriately. Until now, local police resources have been at the mercy of the boy-who-cried-wolf" nature of security notifications. The TriGuard Security Gateway is compatible with most security systems and central stations.
