West Warren Library Announces Grand Opening

A Day of Festivities Planned

West Warren, MA (PRWEB) June 2, 2003 -- The West Warren Library announced today the Grand Opening of their new location at 2370 Main Street, West Warren on Saturday June 14th from 9:00 A.M until 1:00 P.M. A day of events are planned to mark the completion of this new facility, which replaces the library that was destroyed by a fire on December 28, 2002. A lot of hard work by dedicated volunteers has gone into rebuilding this library" states Patricia Swistak, President of the West Warren Library Association, without them we couldnt have gotten as far as we have." The list of events for opening day include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00 A.M., A Harry Potter Look-a-like contest at 10:00 A.M, and a patriotic Bicycle Parade with prizes for the winners. The Harry Potter Contest is open for Children 16 and under and the Bike parade is open for children ages 4 through 12. Other opening day events include, coffee and pastries, Child Seat Safety by the Warren Fire Department and the Molly Bish Foundation will provide identification safety kits for all children.

Over the last 6 months the Library Board of Directors has been working on reconstructing this facility. The directors have been meeting bi-weekly to rebuild this library from ground zero since nothing could be salvaged from the December fire. Swistak states, We have received lots of book donations and other items from people and companies alike." These items have helped us, the general public does not know how much work it takes to create a Library", She continues.

The library will not only offer books and videos, but will also be offering a summer reading program, computer classes, CPR Classes and Food Share Program. This new facility will fill a void for the Seniors and children in this part of Warren." Alan Aubin, Treasurer of the Library Association. With the doors opening June 14th the actual lending of materials will not start until Wednesday June 18th. The grand opening will give the general public an opportunity to come in and view the new library and sign up for a new Library Card and some of the Programs we will be offering." Mr. Aubin continued.
The new library will offering a secure childrens reading area, Internet workstations and Large Print Books to name a few of the new additions. This new building allows us to have more books and videos than we have had in the past" say Librarian Rita Culliton. The library will be open Wednesday through Saturday with two of those days being open into the evening to serve a wider audience. Culliton continues I am looking forward to getting back to working with the children and seeing all the people I used to see."
