The Philadelphia Multi Cultural Carnival Association hosts the second annual Caribbean Carnival in Philadelphia on June 14th. The parade will start at 41st Street and S. Concourse ending at the Memorial Hall, where costumed bands compete for “Band of the Year”. This year, national bands from New York and New Jersey will join local bands competing for the prize money. These masqueraders will dance and jump behind big trucks packed with speakers sounding music for the revelers.
The honorable Mayor John Street proclaimed Fathers Day Weekend, Caribbean Carnival in Philadelphia last year. This family day event starts at 10:00 am and will include a live show with a big band and international performers. There will be lots of exotic foods and craft items for everyone. Vendors wishing to participate can contact the PMCCA official on 609-254-4840. Everyone is invited to see the parade or join a costume band.
