CNS Vital Signs LLC debuts Neurocognitive "Screening Battery" Software, at the American Psychiatric Association Conference

CNS Vital Signs "Screening Battery" was developed to enable clinicians to quickly and accurately assess the most important neurocognitive domains for a wide range of CNS conditions.

Speed Accuracy and Ease of Use Cited as Advantages

Chapel Hill, NC- CNS Vital Signs, unveiled its first computerized neurocognitive evaluation screening product at the 156th American Psychiatric Association Conference in San Francisco on May 18, 2003. The Screening Battery" allows physicians and other healthcare providers to objectively measure neurocognitive problems in memory, attention, motor speed and other neurological conditions a process that heretofore have required specialized hardware and perhaps specially trained personnel.

CNS Vital Signs medical director Thomas Gualtieri, M.D., explained that the Screening Battery was developed to enable clinicians to quickly and accurately assess the most important neurocognitive domains for a wide range of CNS conditions.

We use the Screening Battery in our clinics to assist in the diagnosis of conditions such as Alzheimers Disease (AD), and other forms of dementia, brain injuries, Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD/ADHD) and learning disabilities," said Dr. Gualtieri. The test was designed to be administered quickly and to be readily accessible for clinicians wanting to perform repeated measures on patients as part of a routine evaluation, like a yearly physical."

The Screening Battery is administered in 30 minutes or less on conventional hardware. It generates a concise intuitive report immediately after patient testing. The tool provides millisecond accuracy on WinTel computer platforms.

While at the APA conference, it became obvious to us very quickly that hundreds of clinicians understood our Screening Battery would enhance their ability to assess neurological conditions," stated Alan Boyd, CEO of CNS Vital Signs, "The Screening Battery, solves many of the logistical problems associated with computerized neurocognitive testing. For clinicians seeing patients everyday the Screening Battery is an excellent tool. It is easy to install, runs on every day computer hardware and produces a concise report as soon as the patient completes the test session."

CNS Vital Signs, located in Chapel Hill, NC, develops computerized tools allowing healthcare providers with the assessment and treatment of neurologic states and diseases.
