SMC to Incorporate Intersils High-Performance PRISM Nitro Technology into its 802.11g Wireless Networking Products

Standards-compliant PRISM Nitro technology enhances performance for g-only and mixed mode wireless networks

The firmware upgrade will be incorporated into all of SMCs 802.11g wireless networking products, and will be available for download to upgrade 802.11g products already in the field at www.smc.com.

SMCs 802.11g draft-compliant networking products offer the fastest wireless throughput possible in the 2.4GHz space. Fast enough to handle streaming video, multimedia and all other bandwidth-intensive applications, SMCs 'G family of products provide instant, seamless high-speed network connection for wireless clients. The new PRISM Nitro technology provides up to 50% more throughput in g-only networks; up to 300% more in mixed-mode (802.11b and g) networks by eliminating collisions and employing packet bursting technology. Fully-compliant with IEEE standards, PRISM Nitro technology is backward-compatible with legacy 802.11b.
