Signature of the Chile--U.S. Free Trade Agreement and announcement of a Chilean Trade Mission to Boston and Montréal in September/October 2003

Montréal and Santiago (PRWEB) June 7, 2003 - AsexmaChile and Great Global Minds offers congratulations to the governments of Chile and the United States for the signing of the Chile--U.S. Free Trade Agreement today in Miami, Florida.

To mark this historic agreement, AsexmaChile and Great Global Minds is announcing their planned Chilean Trade Mission to the United States to be held September 28 to October 3, 2003, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Boston, Massachusetts has been chosen due to its dynamic economy, its openness to Chilean products and ever increasing demand for goods such as wine, fish, organic fruits and vegetables, as well as specialty manufactured products and finished goods.

The Chile--U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is the first between the United States and a South American country; negotiations having been concluded in December 2002, two years after the first round of negotiations took place. Bilateral trade of goods between Chile and the U.S. having totaled USD$6.4 billion in 2002, the Free Trade Agreement will see most goods being exempt of duty immediately, while few will see their duty eliminated over the next 12 years.

The Boston, Massachusetts mission will immediately be followed by a mission to Montréal (Québec) Canada from October 3 to October 10, 2003.
