'Achieving Successful Crisis Management
Turnaround Management Association (TMA) Meeting
Date/time/venue : 24th June 2003, 6pm, Tenon Recovery
The next meeting of the TMA (Southern region), will provide the opportunity for local and national businesses involved in the Corporate Renewal Industry to network with like-minded people interested in developing and maintaining companies stability and profitability.
Paul Burke, Southern Region Director of TMA and Director at State Securities said, I am looking forward to what should be a highly informative evening. Our guest speaker, Vincenzo Morelli , will provide an enlightening presentation on 'crisis management with room for topical debate and discussion".
Morelli, Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsals London office, who has twenty-five years of management experience, as a strategy consultant, chief executive and private equity investor, will cover crisis management viewed from two perspectives :
- From the perspective of the Private Equity Investor, drawing in part on his earlier experience as a senior advisor to Clayton Dubilier & Rice, the major international private equity firm where he co-ordinated, in partnership with Cisco Systems, the $1 billion acquisition of Italtel from Telecom Italia.
- From the perspective of a CEO. Vincenzo spent seven years with GE in the USA, London and Paris as part of the Chairmans staff and then, as President of GE Medical Systems-Europe, he initially turned the business around and tripled the size of the historically loss-making entity.
With a few high profile exceptions, the US Turnaround Industry manages to reach companies in crisis much earlier than the UK avoiding Chapter 11 and insolvency. As a foretaste of this years TMA Annual Conference at the IoD, Vincenzo will discuss whether the reasons are geographic, economic or if the UK can learn from the US experience.
Tea and coffee will be available from 6.00 pm for a 6.15 pm start. The formal presentations, including a question and answer session, will end around 7.15pm, to be followed by a buffet supper and refreshments.
