Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation Wooing Global Investors

Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC)the nodal agency of the Goverment of Maharashtra an Indian State has set up specific industrial parks across the state to attract global manufacturing companies.

Maharashtra is rapidly and steadily heading towards economic and business prosperity, all thanks to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), which is working relentlessly towards it.

The state-run corporation with its high-quality infrastructure, investor friendly progressive policies and conveniently located, tailor-made Special Parks, have played a pivotal role in attracting not just Indian businessmen, but also many multi-national enterprises to set base here.

The star attraction is Mumbai, the state capital and the nations financial hub. This throbbing megalopolis has played a significant role not in the development of the state, but also the development of the country. From time immemorial the city has been the preferred centre and major port of trade and commerce for the entire region. Today, Mumbai is Indias economic backbone and continues to display an undying spirit for life in every way. Little wonder, it ranks amongst the worlds top five cities.

Mumbai boasts of a large pool of well educated English speaking graduates, ordained in professional work ethics. They possess domain skills in accounting, banking, & finance, credit cards, insurance, telecom & information, technology and many others.

Besides, it has a well-developed telecom infrastructure, and landing points for three International Undersea Cables (FLAG, SEA-ME-WE2, SEA-ME-WE3). It also has excellent hotels, good educational and recreational facilities, and splendid air connectivity -- flights/connections to most of the US and European cities.

These attractions, together with MIDCs continuous effort in promoting infrastructure have made Maharashtra the leaders in sectors such floriculture, food processing, wine, textile and IT & IT enabled services.


MIDC SPECIAL PARKS

Floriculture Parks:
Maharashtra has emerged as a leading state for production, export and consumption of flowers in the country. MIDC is promoting a Floriculture Park at Talegaon near Pune, over a 200 hectare plot of land, ideal for setting up of a Floriculture Park. This park would be developed as a world-class facility for production of flowers of different types and varieties.
As per the concept of the Park, plots will be allotted to individuals willing to start their own Floriculture units. MIDC would be providing common facilities like post harvest service and logistics, besides professionally run plant propagation nurseries through service providers for production of qualitative planning material at economical rates.

Internal infrastructure like, road network, water supply, electricity supply, administrative and commercial complex etc. is under development. The area is situated in the Agriculture Export Zone declared by the Govt. of India and the units will be eligible for relevant financial subsidies/ incentives and fiscal benefits.

FOOD PARK
MIDC is setting up Specialized Food Parks, which would provide infrastructural support for the promotion of food processing industry and cash in on Maharashtras excellent agricultural and farming resources.

The Specialized Food Parks would offer several benefits to entrepreneurs including; Liberalized customs and licensing norms. A flexible investment atmosphere well planned industry specific infrastructure.

Further, these Specialized Food Parks would ensure the farmers a steady and superior remuneration, thus leading to a direct all-round growth and development of the region, along with the industry.

Butibori, Nagpur Food Park
Nagpur, the winter capital of Maharashtra, is a well-connected, highly industrialized city. It is also one of the largest orange growing areas in the country; hence MIDC has decided to set up a Food Park at Butibori near Nagpur.

Alkund Mane-Rajuri, Sangli Food Park
The park is being planned on a 305 acre plot Cebeco(India) is consultant for the project. The location is best suited for processing of grapes, turmeric, mangoes, pomegranates, citrus and custard apple. Common facilities planned are cold storage, effluent treatment and social infrastructure.


Wine Park

Illustrating yet another instance of focusing on the comprehensive industrialization of the state, the Government of Maharashtra announced a visionary Grape Policy; it incorporates incentive such as a drastic reduction in excise duty on wines. To encourage value addition on grapes.

A Grape Board is proposed to be set up for quality control, certification and export promotion. Considering a long-term growth strategy for the industry, a Wine Institute is also to be set up, to ensure maintenance of International quality and provide trained manpower. After detailed and extensive research for the various regions in the state, an Agri Export Zone for the grapes, encompassing the districts of Nashik, Pune, Sangli and Solapur, has been approved by the Ministry of Commerce. Services rendered to export units shall also count as exports.

MIDC is giving concrete shape to these Government initiatives by setting up Wine Parks with International comparable infrastruture at:
 Vinchur, near Nashik
 Palus, near Sangli


Textile Parks

MIDC is developing exclusive Textile Parks in Maharashtra, to maintain its leadership position in textile exports and production, with specific trade and industry oriented objectives in mind

Nardhana Textile Park
The Nardhana Textile Park is being set up 30 km from Dhule. The total area of the park will be approximately 648 hectares, on which 72 plots will be demarcated.

The Dhule airstrip, just 30 km away from the industrial area, will provide accessibility to the park and facilitate a quick movement of material.

Butibori Textile Park

Additional Ambernath Textile Park
MIDC has developed an ultra-modern industrial area on 507 hectares of land, called the Additional Ambernath Textile Park, near Ambernath, a suburb of Mumbai.

The textile park has several unique features that will assist in the smooth operation and growth of the industry.

MIDC has constructed its own Helipad at the park to facilitate visits from both entrepreneurs and their clients.

IT Parks

Maharashtra has focused on developing appropriate infrastructure in terms of power connectivity, mass transport, housing, etc. to foster the growth of knowledge based industries.

Several world class IT Parks spread over all major cities in the State, with plug-and-play ready infrastructure, enable entrepreneurs to move in and commence development work in a short span of time.

Some of these Parks are Millennium Business Par at Navi Mumbai, SEEPZ at Andheri, Mumbai, Pune Infotech Park I & II at Hinjawadi, Nashik Infotech Park and Akola IT-BT Park.


All in all MIDC is playing the role of a crucial facilitator in ensuring overall progress and development of Maharashtra and allowing it to retain its reputation of being the land of Maha Opportunities!
