New GPS Product to Aid War Against Terror, Protect Consumers and Businesses
Direct-Track provides security and safety for personal and commerical vehicles. Can be used to help prevent theft, hijacking, unauthorised use, etc.
Auburn, NY -- A fully loaded gasoline tanker is stolen and goes on a high-speed suicide race across two counties until it is crashed through the front doors of an elementary school. This is the scenario that emergency planners can imagine, but cant be 100% certain of preventing.
Unlike airplanes, trucks, cars and other vehicles are not routinely monitored or do not feature the right technology to stop a terrorist or thief. Senator Schumer (D-NY)stated that "we need to commit the same kind of energy to protecting our trucks as we do our airplanes."
The commitment to protecting trucks that Schumer referred to is available to all who wish to purchase it, from families to businesses to government agencies. The commitment comes in the form of Direct-Track (website: www.upstate-direct-track.com), a new product now being distributed across North America.
The Direct-Track Unit (DTU) is a mobile GPS technology that utilizes specialized microburst communications and the continental cellular system to enable people to locate their vehicle to within 20 feet. It also provides theft-prevention and vehicle monitoring capabilities.
Some security-enhancing features include: automatic reporting of a vehicle's location at certain intervals, ignition enable/disable, power door lock/unlock, vehicle alarm trigger, exceeding a pre-set speed limit, and crossing pre-established boundaries.
What does this mean for public safety? In the case above, the fleet manager would be notified that the truck has left the nearby area and exceeded the pre-set speed limit. The fleet manager can then go online and find where the truck is to within 20 feet. The manager can then trigger the ignition disable so that if the truck is shut off for any reason, it cannot be restarted. The manager can then relay the location to emergency authorities.
These same features are beneficial to private vehicle owners and municipalities. The same features that can enhance security also can lower liability, insurance and maintenance costs. Direct-Track can provide some intangible benefits such as peace of mind for the parent of a teen driver, knowledge that you can pinpoint a stranded or broken down vehicle to within twenty feet.
