Is Youth Strength Training Safe?
As part of the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Annual National Conference, leading experts will discuss youth training and illustrate the development of an effective training program for young athletes.
Colorado Springs, CO --(June 10, 2003)- When it comes to strength training, children are not just mini adults"-they require special attention with several safety concerns to be aware of. But when extra caution is taken, youth strength training can be fun, safe, and effective.
The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) will host its 26th Annual National Conference July 16-19, 2003 in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a premier educational event for exercise professionals, the conference attracts nearly 1,500 strength coaches, sport coaches, personal trainers, athletic trainers, sport scientists, physical therapists, and educators from around the world.
As part of the four-day conference, leading experts will discuss the latest advancements in youth training and illustrate the development of an effective training program for young athletes. Highlights include:
· "Designing Resistance Training Programs: Growth, Maturation, and Developmental Considerations for the Adolescent Athlete"
A close examination of adolescent physical growth and the training protocols needed to effectively train youth athletes.
· "Developing a School-Wide Athletic Enhancement Program at the High School Level"
Practical applications and helpful tips for developing a high school strength program will be discussed.
· "Validity of Field Methods for Estimating Body Composition in Young Athletes"
This presentation will review the literature and make recommendations on which methodologies and equations should be used to estimate body composition in young athletes.
· "From Child to Pro: Building Athletes From the Inside"
A 5-phase paradigm introducing core-dinated strength" and multidirectional training philosophies will be presented to enhance your athletes performance.
