Moms with a passion for unique fabrics now have a perfect site to shop!

"Pixie & Trixie" make handmade, wonderful baby items. They have just launched their new website! Their speciality is vintage & one-of-a-kind fabrics.

A stay-at-home mom & a nanny, both Iowa natives, have launched a fun new company that combines their passion for fabrics & children. About a year ago "Pixie & Trixie" was born. Working out of their homes and selling at local craft shows got them started. Now they have taken the next big step into internet sales. Another mom friend (Joy Soderlund from 1sourcedesign.com)designed the site which exemplifies the "Pixie & Trixie" image. It is worth a look! www.PixieandTrixie.com

The co-founders, Dory and Victoria, both have a love of beautiful fabric and wanted to dress their special little ones with the same flare. The ubiquitous purple dinosaur & over done themes just weren't working for them! Instead they came up with a wonderful pattern for a unique bib with fun fabrics, large size, terry back and adjustable velcro closure. Their signature bib is what got them started. They have now added a full line of coordinating burp cloths, stroller blankets & gift baskets. If you are looking for a special baby gift, their site is the place to start! They have a large array of vintage & one-of-a-kind fabrics that are sure to please both the moms & the kids!

The company got its name from the founders' first pets. When they discovered that, before they even knew each other, they had named their pets such similar names they knew it was serendipity. The name reflects childhood memories as well as a bit of whimsy. Both of the owners strive to keep the company fun and fresh with hand-made pieces that are each lovingly made. They recently have joined forces with "Project Linus", a non profit organization that provides hand-made blankets to seriously ill and traumatized children. If you'd like more information about the local chapter of Project Linus, please email Katie Schulte at dlschulte@mchsi.com. A portion of every on-line purchase benfits their mission to provide more blanekts for Project Linus.

The company has been a wonderful way to provide a creative outlet yet allow the owners to continue to take a primary role in raising their little ones. It has also resulted in a large network of other stay-at-home/work-at-home moms in the area. Recently they organized a "Spring Fling" home show which brought together several of those small businesses in Dory's home. The event got wonderful response & will likely grow into an annual event. Many shoppers commented that is was a great way to shop in a casual atmosphere.

After many years living away from Iowa, Dory Johnson (one of the owners of "Pixie & Trixie) is happy to be home in Des Moines. The internet offers the opportunity to reach many customers while still enjoying her wonderful Mid-west family life here in Iowa. As the company expands she hopes her business partner (now residing in Seattle, Washington) will come on board full time & return to her Iowa roots as well!
