Father Seeks Insight Into Raising the Minds & Souls of Children

Westlake Village, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2003 -- Royce Siggard, father of four, has actively sought the insight and wisdom available from science, religion, and other domains to help him become a better parent. But the current literature leaves much to be desired. As he discussed his concerns with other parents at little league games and PTA meetings, he found their life experiences to be a rich reservoir of ideas.

Inspired by that experience, Siggard is launching a web site to present the Parent-Child Relationship Questionnaire to gain insight into the best practices, approaches, philosophies and behaviors used by parents around the world. The survey may be found at http://www.myParentQuest.com .

“Given the absence of a widely recognized approach to parenthood and the general lack of parent training, most parents perpetuate the same traditions and approaches they learned from their parents and caregivers,” said Siggard. “By accelerating the sharing of the best practices, my goal is to help parents better meet the needs of the current generation of children. This survey is designed to identify the good (and bad) examples of parenting practices from around the world, and provide the foundation for future research to develop fundamental knowledge about this important topic.”

“Almost 60 years ago, Dr. Spock’s Baby and Child Care became the standard for the care and feeding of infants and little children. Today’s parents are interested in preparing the minds, shaping the personalities, and influencing the values of their offspring. While a plethora of ideas can be gleaned from the internet and hundreds of books, a systematic analysis and organized approach is needed to dramatically advance the knowledge about better parenting practices and to share it with those most concerned about the issues,” said Siggard.

Those interested in responding to the survey can find it on Siggard’s website at http://www.myParentQuest.com.
