DRAGONFLY TAKE OFF WITH NEW CD, DEBUT NYC PERFORMANCE AT GALA RELEASE PARTY
To celebrate the release of their new CD "The Edge Of The World," Boston-based band DRAGONFLY will pull out the stops with two rocking concerts. After showing their hometown a good time on June 16th, the band head to The Big Apple for their debut New York City concert on Wednesday, June 18th. The show, at the famed Cutting Room (19 West 24th Street, NYC) is also a no-holds-barred CD release party. The five man group is throwing open the doors for two performances (8 & 10 PM) with no charge to the public; 21 and over or accompanied by an adult.
"The Edge of the World" (Redstar Entertainment) is a true international endeavor: recorded in the Caribbean, arranged in Morocco and having its very first performance in the Maldives, the recording environment was far from conventional. The band played on an open stage facing the sea, coping with strong winds, a surf crashing 15 meters away, and crickets all too anxious to contribute their sound to the proceedings. Generally in the pop/rock category, the music of DRAGONFLY spans rock, funk/dance, blues and country. With influences that include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, U2 and Prince, The Boston Globe describes DRAGONFLY as a crack band (with) a passion to succeed."
"The Edge of the World" is a 2-CD set featuring some of the best musical talents the scene has to offer. Leading the band is Miki Singh, a former software magnate who abandoned the corporate world to pursue music. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Singh is an intercontinental spirit, who grew up around the world speaks four languages. Guitarist Peter Parcek has played with top musicians such as The Grateful Dead and Sheryl Crow, has been the recipient of numerous Blues awards. Percussionist Steve Scully has performed with such notables as James Taylor and David Gray. Berklee Music School graduate Marc Hickox is on bass. Rounding off the quintet is Brother Cleve on keyboards and loops, world-renowned DJ and former member of the Del Fuegos.
"The Edge of the World" is now available for purchase on CDBaby.com. DRAGONFLY record for Singhs Redstar Entertainment, and are currently looking for distribution partners worldwide.
