SPOOKS RETURN "FASTER THAN YOU KNOW..."
Brilliant Sophomore Album Pushes the Boundaries of Hip-Hop
New York -- June 16, 2003... Spooks return with their brilliant sophomore album, FASTER THAN YOU KNOW... (In The Paint/Koch Entertainment). The album, which is scheduled for a September 9, 2003 release, features 17 tracks of reality-embracing tales which we were first introduced to on Spooks debut, S.I.O.S.O.S., Vol. 1. The first single, Faster Than You Know..." features a guest appearance by Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, and will be impacting radio in mid-June. We dont run from the dark sides of issues that present themselves," explains Hypno. We tell the whole story."
Telling the whole story is the formula that garnered Spooks their critical European success. The debut single, Things Ive Seen" went gold in Belgium, Sweden and France; was the #1 most played song in Europe in 2001, and top ten in nearly a dozen countries from Germany and the Netherlands to Turkey and Israel. The video was nominated for a Billboard Video Award, and the album, S.I.O.S.O.S., VOL. 1, went gold in the UK.
It was the Spooks passionate love of knowledge and music that actually made the group whole. Mr. Booka-T and Joe Davis grew up together as members of a hip-hop group known as Rated-X in North Philadelphia. Ming-Xia and Mr. Booka-T met at an art college in NYC, where they developed a close bond in both art and music, Hypno was sporadically pursuing his own music career. After a mutual friend connected the male MCs, they immediately vibed and hit Philadelphias club and freestyle circuit in 1995. When Ming was brought in to sing on a track in 1996, it was clear that her distinctive voice was a missing link. From that point on, all of the diverse elements converged together to form Spooks.
August will find Mr. Booka-T, Hypno, Joe Davis and Ming-Xia touring Europe, with plans for a domestic tour in the fall.
