Eligible schools wishing to take advantage of this special offer need to indicate to Odyssey their interest by July 15th.
This initiative stems from the need to recognize and support a sizeable group of users within BC who were using Pathfinder - a computer-managed learning system previously offered by Pathfinder Learning Systems before Odyssey acquired the company's assets in October 1999. Under the agreement holders of lapsed Pathfinder licenses can now install Nautikos at a preferred pricing starting at $3,200 per year, inclusive of both licensing and support services*. Licenses that are not upgraded by the original purchasing school district would be available to any school or district to upgrade to Nautikos.
Odyssey will be providing educators and administrators with regularly scheduled live online demonstrations of Nautikos, so that school districts can assess the systems new features, which include interoperability with existing BC 3rd party online content such as COOL School and Open School courses, and products such as Virtual Classrooms and Student Information Systems. Pathfinder was initially built under a grant from Youth Employment Skills Canada (YES Canada) back in 1987. This system has evolved into Nautikos since Odyssey took over four years ago, with numerous enhancements and upgrades being made to the system. Today, Nautikos is the most comprehensive computer-managed learning tool on the market. The software is multimode, operating in any setting from rural to remote, onsite to online. It is IMS, SCORM and industry standards compliant, and runs on the widest variety of platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac) and from IE and Netscape browsers.
Odyssey markets over 100 Canadian partner educational courses that can be customized to meet local needs, as well as complementary Canadian 3rd party products such as a virtual classroom and a student information system. With Nautikos users can also develop resource-rich courses from any type of learning resource -- digital and paper-based materials to content on virtually any other learning system.
